Chocolate Orange Cake

Chocolate and Orange Cake made with a WHOLE orange and lots of dark chocolate.

An Orange Dark chocolate Plain (all purpose) flour Baking powder Cocoa Butter Caster sugar Soft brown sugar Eggs Vegetable oil Golden syrup


A soft, moist, melt-in-the-mouth chocolate and orange cake that tastes of a TOTAL orange! 🍊

Boil your orange and then reduce it all to a pump using a hand blender or food processor. Leave to cool.


Melt your chocolate and set aside. Sift your flour, baking powder and cocoa and set aside.


Beat your butter and sugars until soft and airy.  Then add your eggs, one at a time, with some of your flour mixture,.  Beat in the rest of your flour mixture.


Pour your cake mixture into your lined 23 cm tin.  Bake for approx. 55 minutes until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.


For your easy chocolate ganache icing, melt your dark chocolate and then stir in your golden syrup and butter until melted.


Pour your ganache over your cooled cake, starting in the centre and letting it flow out. Sprinkle over orange zest to decorate.
